In 2003 I wanted to do a course on public speaking in a town 275 miles from where I lived at the time, but in the area where I used to work. I didn’t have any money to speak of, so I decided to finance my trips and the course with "working on the side".

I had been retired at the time, and did not have any contact with any of my former clients for three years. But I had some old emails, and old and new inquiries from my ads that I didn’t remove when I retired.

I started over the Labor Day weekend, Sunday evening, Monday (Labor Day) and Monday morning

I booked 8 appointments. Everyone showed, on time.

Over the next 8 month, while the course got together weekly, I repeated the same thing, every Friday/Saturday, always fully booked, never a problem. Those 5-8 appointments a week made it possible for me to travel and have no worries about how I would pay my bills.

I retired at the end of 2006. By then I’d visited many cities in the US, took courses and seminars, financing them exactly the same way. Not a bad way to live… and now, from what I learned then, I am making a great living.
