Welcome Back. If you haven't, please subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks
According to my correspondence, a little “education” is due with regards to link or banner exchanges.
OK, here you go.
There are two kinds of links: blind and active.
Blind link means that the link goes directly to the page, without being driven through a hit-counter.
Active link means, that the clicks that go to and from your site are counted by some software on the other site.
A link is also called a url = universal resource locator. Just that you know
I will just call it a link, O.K.?
When you exchange blind links, you don’t know what you are getting, but you know what you are giving. So you don’t want to give a lot… unless you are in love with the other site. lol
When you exchange active links, your site’s performance earns you something. It can earn you a commission on pay sites, it can earn you higher placement on sites that rank the links by their performance.
Performance is the amount of valid clicks you send…
Outcall.net is a site like that. So is rare-escorts: go to your partners page. Check your page and check your administration panel. You’ll notice, that rare-escorts places the better performing sites’ links higher. That is a great service, kudos to rare-escorts. If it were up to you, you wouldn’t care. And your links page would do you little good. Rare-escorts’ new site is set up the same way.
On outcall.net every list is set up to rank the sites in the order of their performance.
Performance is a number of legitimate visitors sent to outcall.net by a site. Outcall.net can only count this if the link contains the username of the ad that belongs to your site. That’s why the links look so funky, with dots and question marks… grrr. But without that you have a blind link, no benefit from linking… bad deal.
The ranking software has a reasonably good filter against cheaters.
Cheating is repeatedly clicking on the link, asking your friends to click for you, using some funky device to automatically click… European companies are more devious than their naive US colleagues… therefore I prefer doing business with US providers.
When a list is set up like a “toplist”, your ad isn’t even showing until a valid click came through from your site.
These toplists are “reset” every day/week/month. When they reset, all numbers go to “0″, which means your ad won’t show.
If you know or notice that a toplist reset itself, you would be smart to activate your ad. You activate your ad by visiting it through the banner or link on your links page. Or in my lists, (except the actual toplist) you should click on the link in the email I send you when I ask you to re-activate your ad.
Which means: all my lists are set up like a toplist. This way I can reward providers for visitors sent with a higher placement. This way I can eliminate the advertisers’ ads that either don’t work or just simply don’t answer their emails.
The visitors of my site will thank me: they won’t have to contact ten providers before they find someone who answers her email, and the active providers will thank me: they won’t be lost in a sea of “bad” providers.
I hope this educational article didn’t go right over your head, and from now on you’ll be smarter…
Like you’ll go to your links page once a week and click on all those pesky banners you have there. Click right through to where the ads are, don’t stop at the “gate” page, your click won’t count.
In an experiment (I experiment a lot, lol) with my brother’s site, http://www.yourcityescorts.com, he stopped clicking on his links for a month, and his traffic dropped to next to nothing. When he resumed clicking, he gained 2,000 people for that month. Not too bad for about 15 minutes worth of work for the whole month.
Warning: don’t click on the links more than once a day, preferably every other day. These sites have a cheatlist (me too!) and eventually they will ban you from advertising on their site.
On my site: don’t click more than once a week. My cheat filter is set to filter out everything that is more frequent than once a week. OK? Be smart. And please don’t email me that your activation didn’t work if it didn’t work because you kept on clicking. I’ll ignore your email, or ban you from my sites.
Now you have it. The whole story. Be smart. Get rich. Be safe. And put one of my banners to your site…
