On November 5th or 6th, just a day or two after the elections, Craigslist has changed its policy.
The new rule is that it cost $5 per post for escorts and other erotic service providers to post.
Accepted payment method is credit card or debit card, and it must be in your name. Gifts cards are not accepted.
The situation before that change was that you could post as many ads a day as many different ways you could say ornery, explicit, revealing and compromising things about your services.
The men that were attracted to this kind of language were seldom good customers, they wanted more for less, but you could get a lot of good business on Craigslist.
So what can you do if you don’t have a credit card or don’t want to give it to Craigslist?
Well, if you are interested in free advertising, my sites, outcall.net, and in-call.net are available, but you are not allowed to use the language that Craigs has put up, and you can only have one ad on each.

My craigs clone site, sophieslist.org, is largely unmonitored, and you can place multiple ads.

I have heard of two girls this past week that got busted. You need to pay attention to your conduct, to your wording, and listen keenly when you book, when you confirm, and when you give the exact address to the potential client. If you listen well, there is no way that people don’t reveal that they are up to no good. I mean fun… You can hear it. I’ll repeat: you can hear it. So please: listen. Don’t ever do a booking when your attention is compromised, or when you are in a rush, when you feel needy, or when you drink… Your judgment is going to be clouded, and you don’t need the trouble of bail, lawyer, newspaper mention, you don’t need that. It is bad business…

Be safe. Come, advertise free on my site, and see that my sites are not craigslist, but the quality of clientele is very high.

Your attitude is everything. You can look great… but with an attitude that is less than patient, easy going, accepting, smooth, interested, ready for anything, etc… you are going to lose the battle in an economy where only the best will survive.

I decided, about six months ago, that it is more important to keep the site fresh and full of responsive advertisers, than anything.

What I did is added an extra monthly step to everyone’s calendar: the need to re-activate the ad. It takes a lot, I admit, receiving my emails, opening them, reading them, and clicking on a link in the email, and then an enter button… It is a hassle: that is, if you have an attitude.

I came to this conclusion. I had two kinds of responses:
1. all smiley and grateful and appreciative. I am sure these girls are doing great. Because how you do anything is how you do everything.
2. all grumpy, all impatient, “if it is such a hassle, then just take me off your list” type of attitude. And because how you do anything is how you do everything… I can only imagine the economy’s impact on an provider like this: they soon will need to find a different job.

Conclusion: In crucial times like this attitude is more important than most. The economy effects the discretionary income of clients. Discretionary means that it is money they can decide how to spend. But they have less if any of that. I just look at my own pocketbook and I know.

Lots of things and lots of people stand in line to get their share of that discretionary income… and a smiley face, and good attitude can win it all for you. Are you in the game? Or do you forget that the experience begins with the first email, with the smile you have on your face while you pray that this guy will stick and pay your rent? Not the frown. The smile… ok?

Now go and look in the mirror. Pay attention only at the expression your face, your eyes, your posture have. Change it to loving, appreciative, light, attentive, there is no care in the world type of expression. That expression attracts… the other one repels.

Remember the Law of Attraction? Similars attract… And we are in the pleasure business… pleasure seeker is looking for pleasure seeker. Not someone who is trying to get a free lunch… or free rent.

OK?

Disclaimer: I am an opinionated woman. I am right more often than I am wrong, but in no ways should that mean that I am always right. Read the below mindfully. If it is true about you: good. If it is way off: write it off as fairy tale, or misunderstanding. But please, understand that every piece of communication means something about you to the reader. Be mindful of that. Design it, if you can. And avoid the major traps… Your business will thank you for it.

What does it mean about you or your session if you use all caps in your ad? Well, that is not that simple. It could mean that you can’t tell the difference between capital letters and lower case letters, and you don’t care. Which means: you are ignorant. You also talk loud and without changing the intensity of your voice: you drain people’s energy, you are a drag. The session with you will suit people who aren’t interested in companionship, in connecting with the provider, because there is no connecting to you: nobody home, nobody answers, your life is about you.

Another biggie: why would I worry about you using lots of exclamation marks. (By the way: using more than one is already too many.)

Just listen what that symbol, ! is called: exclamation mark. Exclamation, if you really scratch the surface, means you are suddenly speaking louder. To bring attention to something.

If everything is exclaimed, then nothing is whispered… go back to the “all caps” paragraph and take heed. Everything it says can be said about you, and in addition it reveals that you are not sure of yourself, or you are actually lying. As in saying something about you or your session that is not true.

Truthful statements don’t have to be yelled. Whisper is heard over the storm even, yelling just blends right in.

Oh, here is one of my “favorites:” superlatives. As in “best” “gorgeous” etc. I have been in the adult business for 20 years now. I can count the girls that are truly gorgeous on one hand. Most of you are slightly above average, many of you are average, and many more: just normal. With makeup and beautiful lingerie. Of course, a dog is gorgeous for a guy before a session. They will even tell you so. Just like they say “hunger is the best cook”. Everything tastes good.

What’s my advice? Be sparing. Use one, maybe two of these big words. You can promise to be great, you can promise to please, you can promise to be unforgettable. It’s actually attractive. But stating them as facts will bite you in the rear end… promise.

Some of you don’t have much to say about yourself, so you put your disclaimer in the ad, something like: I am not selling sex. This is not an offer for prostitution. etc. etc. etc.

Now, why on earth would you say that? If you are not selling sex, then you are not. If you are… all the disclaimers in the world won’t say you from getting into trouble.

Now, if you knew what you are talking about, then even if the chief prosecutor showed up in your room posing as a client would not find anything wrong in your conduct. He, in fact, would remember for years, that he was so irresistible, that you wanted him. Wanted him so bad, that you asked his permission to jump him… ;-) got it? No need for disclaimers. Your disclaimer is your behavior. When you put it in your ad… it is like putting a sign on yourself: hey, I am a pro… fill in the blanks. Don’t do it.

What does it mean about you if you do excessive client screening. By excessive, I mean, you need all their contact numbers, you call their workplace, you ask for their drivers license.

Do you know what I think is the truth about you? You don’t really want to be doing this profession. You want control, every area, every moment. You are distrustful, and you are no fun. You don’t listen. You like to speak, but to listen and hear? Oh, not you. You will talk a lot during the session… there will be no intimacy, and your rate of repeat clientele is going to be low, low, low.

What if you use “too few words” in your ad? What do I say it means about you?
Your ad is like: “escort service” “traveling blonde escort” or something very “meaningful” like the above. Well, you think that people should be able to read your mind. You think that advertising yourself is below you: you are so great that it is obvious. You are like the little deli that the owner build on a side street without so much as a sign. Only people who trip over you will find you… and it’s a pity: some of you are very good provider, but conceited. Communication is not your strong suit. Therefore intimacy will not be available in your sessions.

What if you are the type of provider that wants to write a “novel”, i.e. you use too many words in your ad. Hmm… that is a difficult one. Maybe you are trying to leave nothing to the imagination? Maybe you lack, or don’t trust enough, or don’t believe in discovery and magic…? Hmm. I don’t know. I know that it is not attractive and it is not practical.

In my many years, I have noticed that the more conversation before a session, the less chance for an actual session, the mental masturbation relieves all the tension necessary for a client to shell out the mucho dinaro, it takes to book you.

And what if they do book? My experience has shown me that the session won’t be magical… and then, why bother.

If you are not magical, you are not worth your salt.

Summary:

How you do anything… is how you do everything. And though people don’t know that consciously, they do know it subconsciously. So the style of your ad “heralds” the experience one will have with you while doing business.

How you do anything… is how you do everything.

And though people don’t know that consciously, they do know it subconsciously.

So the style of your ad “heralds” the experience one will have with you while doing business.

If you write your ad like an accountant, one can count on a session that is dry, dutiful and not very memorable… much like Sunday school.

If you write your ad in a hurry, spelling errors, dyslexic errors, all lower case or all caps: you are always in a hurry, you don’t pay attention to details, and you are good, at best, for a half price quickie… one foot out the door. You can also be counted on to care only about yourself.

These are just two examples that passed my desk today… I will post more as I come accross them… it is never too late to tame the beast in you, the one that keeps you the same… small, insignificant, broke, sick, stuck in the same old, same old.

Once you catch something that you can improve, please, set out to improve it.

It is not charming, or spontaneous to be always in a rush, to be late, to be babbling all over the place.
And it is not sexy to cross all your tees, and never have anything hang out…

Allow your life (and your ads) to be like a dance, flowing, expressive of something deeper. It is pleasing to the Power, and it is nice, it is pleasant, it is fun, it is erotic, and after all, it is the only life you got!

Summary:

Watching movies can be a wake up experience. The Lake House has been like that for me.

I have many mentors, and I have many people I mastermind with. This is one way I manage to grow, even when the people life throws my way in business or life are not for growth, either for themselves or for me.

One of these mastermind people, Mike from Tennessee, is a friend through an esoteric program called Quantum Mind Shifting… Eliminating All Negativity from Your System… I paraphrased the title… but this is more descriptive than the one I paid for…

Anyway, one of my passions is movies. I watch movies, as it turns out, not for entertainment, but mainly to experience life in ways I would not be able to experience myself, even if I traveled all the time.

On of my favorite movies is the “Lake House”, relatively new, with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves.

The movie is about two people who communicate through time gap… they are in parallel universes, exactly two years apart.

They attempt to buck the system, and meet. Through the cruel joke of the time gap they stop communicating. But there is a crucial moment, when the character of Sandra Bullock sees that she can change what happens in the guy’s universe by acting, boldly, and just in time, and this way she creates a third parallel universe where they can actually meet.

For me, this movie is about that moment when she discovers that the guy she loved died… about 10 minutes later…

She rushes to communicate to him “I love you” and then “I am at the Lake House now… meet me there in 2 years…” (remember, they are still 2 years apart.) He goes to the lake house two years later, and they are now together. Happy ending.

But she could have done, what most people do… say: “Oh well…” and maybe add “It wasn’t meant to be…” or some other bs.

Like me, 20 years ago, when I was told I wasn’t going to be trained to do the only thing I ever really wanted to do: lead courses for large audiences. Their reason was valid. As valid as death was in this movie.

I said: “Oh well…” and I literally died. Not physically, spiritually, as a person whose life is worth a dime.

Sandra Bullock thinks: Oh, no… I can change the future, and does what it takes. And gets what she wants… the guy she loves.

I have the chance to say: oh no… and go for it. (I always had it. could not I see it? or maybe I didn’t want to?… Was I too dead? it won’t matter any longer… I now have the chance and I am going for it…)

This time it is not like someone is going to train me… it is a little harder, because I have to find my way… but I know where I am going. I am going to lead courses and seminars to large groups of people. As if all those 20 dead years had never happened.

Watching movies can be a wake up experience. This one has been like that for me.

He knew that the dough may collapse if he works it too much, so he was barely touching it. That is when the baker said that famous — Don’t be afraid of the dough. Shape it, form it, do stuff with it. If it goes bad, you’ll get another piece and will work with that.

Walt Disney went bankrupt seven times before he got it right and crated his billion dollar Disneyland.

Do NOT Be afraid of the dough

I have been trying to cut expenses.

The overall slowing of the economy has touched me. I am sure you can relate.

One of the things I have learned to do, when increasing revenue is not an immediate option, is to cut expenses. And one of my biggest expenses is my apartment… maybe I could get a room-mate… I have 3 rooms I don’t use…

The second biggest expense is my internet… hosting my sites. My total internet bill almost matches my rent… which is too much.

Now that I am finding it harder and harder to pay my bills…

Anyway, I have dozens of partially developed businesses and business ideas. All good, all different, vastly different from my current business. Not that there is anything wrong with my current business, but it has this invisible glass ceiling of “barely making a living” and my clientele doesn’t like to spend money with me… they rather give it to other people or spend it on junk… :-(

Every night I go to bed and ask my soul to go and scout the beyond for answers: which plan shall I put all my efforts into… which one will I love to do… which one will I succeed at. Or maybe there is a plan I haven’t even thought of?

I want to go for the sure killing. I am afraid to fail.

Interesting how much people change… I used to be fearless. I used to be famous and known for my courage… envied by a lot of people.

Now, if it were not so commonplace being a coward… otherwise know as reasonable, I would be famous for my cowardice, my hesitancy, my trying-to-hold-onto-what-I have.

Today I had a call with one of my mentors. She is less than half my age, doesn’t know half of what I know, still, during every weekly call, she manages to say just the thing I need to hear for that week. I spend the first 25 minutes fighting her, and then she says what she says, I calm down, and get freed up, at least for another week.

This week she said: Don’t be afraid of the dough!

A mentor of hers shared with her, that he was once invited to a bakery to play with the dough, make it whatever shape he wanted, and then they would bake his creation for him to take home.

He knew that the dough may collapse if he works it too much, so he was barely touching it. That is when the baker said that famous –Don’t be afraid of the dough. Shape it, form it, do stuff with it. If it goes bad, you’ll get another piece and will work with that.

Walt Disney went bankrupt seven times before he got it right and created his billion dollar Disneyland.

Walt Disney had the right idea, but maybe he got to the right idea through allowing himself to mess up.

So maybe I should start my internet marketing kindergarten… what do you think?

Technical Difficulties…

My blog is experiencing technical difficulties with the word “dough”… I wonder if it is a mindset.

By the way: did you know that being poor, as a statement, and being broke, as a statement, reflect very differently on you, and your mindset, and attract a whole different set of circumstances?

I didn’t know… I just heard it the other day.

Being broke is a momentary state, in time, and means that your cash flow is interrupted but will be back again soon.

Being poor means that you consider yourself poor. Why is that a problem? Poor people have behaviors that make them the best customers of McDonalds, and discount stores. They buy because something is cheap or on sale. The are stuck in being poor, and will make sure they stay that way.

Scary. I am definitely broke. Poor? Not in my view.

Summary:

My answer is: if you like to talk to people (as opposed to booking all your appointments in email), then by all means make it easy for people to call you. Just make sure you have a lot of info in your ad, so that you don’t have to spend your time telling people what is in your website… etc. etc.

Shall I have my Phone Number in My ad?

This is a question that comes up daily.

My answer is: if you like to talk to people (as opposed to booking all your appointments in email), then by all means make it easy for people to call you. Just make sure you have a lot of info in your ad, so that you don’t have to spend your time telling people what is in your website… etc. etc.

Another concern: what happens if someone searches for your phone number on google… or on yahoo.

For that, I recommend that you “obfuscate” your number, somewhat, and you do it slightly differently every time.

example: original number 123-456-7890
obfuscated versions: 1-23 45-5 7-890, 1 23-4-56-789 0 etc. etc.
you can place dashes in between as well, like 123/4/5/6/7-890

that way, alternating the pattern, you are very untracable.
